iPad Air (A7) vs iPad Air 2 (A8) CPU consumption?

Post by rayetheridge » Fri Aug 14, 2015 4:31 pm

I'm looking to upgrade my iPad 4 to an Air but was wondering rather the Air 2 is worth the extra over the former Air:

About how many more tracks with effects can you have with the Air 2 compared to the Air?

Definitely get the Air 2, the extra RAM is worth it alone.

Yep, and you'll be a few more years ahead of having to replace it as Apple's OS will eventually not support it.

I still have, (and use) my 1st gen iPad & 1st gen Air. I cannot update the 1st gen iPad, but it works just fine for all sorts of utilitarian purposes. Sits in my old Alesis I/O Dock.

I can't compare the Air 2 to the Air, but the Air 2 is very impressive. As Richardyot says, the RAM alone is reason enough to to get the Air 2. I haven't needed to freeze tracks yet. 20-30 tracks all with multiple instances of plugins. How much CPU and RAM you use will also depend on which and how many plugins you use. If you can afford it, get the Air 2.

I'm waiting for the next iPad refresh.

If rumors are true, A9/2Gb RAM + bigger screen.

I've been skipping every other year and I'm due this year.

Should be perfect for Auria Pro... 8)
