Midi Config for PC1600

Post by FuzzyDAVID » Sat Jul 13, 2013 9:53 pm

I would love to know if anyone has ideas on how to get a peavey pc1600 to work with auria. I know it's an older unit but if I can get it to go how rocking would that be. Any help would be great, I'm at a loss.

That unit doesn't support Mackie MCU or HUI emulation, so it won't work as a remote for Auria. But you can still use it to control plugin parameters on all the FabFilter plugins.

Have you tested the PC1600 with Auria?
In my research the PC1600 can control ProTools with one of the 7 included patches from the factory. This unit is displayed on the Digidesign site alomg with the JL Cooper CS10 and the pdf file describes both of these units under HUI control.

I looked at their specs on the website and didn't see any HUI or MCU protocols listed, but if it supports one of these, it may work.

Pro Tools supports many controllers that aren't Mackie compatible, but Auria only support Mackie compatible controllers.

When I try and us it with Auria via my 8i6, i get no midi control at all. I can monitor the midi I/o via a diff app so I know it's passing from the 8i6 to the ipad. The reason I am trying to get this going is because I'm using the stock fxs ( comps, eq's, verbs) live and tracking using it as my house feed too. Works pretty darn good too I must say. I don't know if there is enough horse power in the ipad to use fab filters plus track. I know I can't record 4ch plus use con verbs.

I found the PDF under the digi site but nothing really on how to Config. I'd love to drive eq's via midi and verbs

So, to summarize:

If your MIDI controller supports HUI or MCU protocols, you can do this:

- Remote control everything in Auria (faders, knobs, plugins, channelstrips, masterstrips, transport, switching screens, opening/closing plugin windows, etc)
- Adjust FabFilter plugin controls

If your MIDI controller does not support HUI or MCU protocols, you can do this:

- Adjust FabFilter plugin controls

Quik question Rim. I am having trouble setting up my korg nanokontrol 2. The latest update states it supports HUI however, Auria recognizes the device but there is no movement or communication in Auria with the controller. Send and receive remote under the midi section cannot be highlighted even-though the devive is connected via USB adapter.

One more thing. Why does this happen after the midi update? Image posted.

If you're getting a screen like that, then something has gone wrong with your Auria installation. I suggest deleting Auria completely (tap and hold on the Auria icon, then press the X), then reinstall it from the App Store again. Make sure you back up any projects you need first.

Thanks for the fast response. I take it that this would solve my controller issue?

I don't know, but I can't think of a reason you shouldn't be able to select Receive Remote and Send Remote.

The weird screen issue went away after reinstall however, send and recieve remote under nanokontrol 2 still not selectable. I now have to purchase retune since it was free when I bought Auria launch day. Retune would be great with manual pitch correction.

If you ever had a version of Auria when ReTune was free, you just need to restore from your iTunes or iCloud backup to restore it, then update to the latest Auria version from the App Store.

I'm looking into the issue with the Midi Remote buttons. It looks like this might be a bug.

Would you mind sending me a screenshot of your Settings MIDI page, where you can't select the Remote buttons?

Thanks,

This is the screen shot. Everything can be selected however, not the send and receive remotes under midi in and out nankontrol2ctrl.
