Problem with Humanize?

Post by rickwaugh » Mon May 09, 2016 12:53 am

Ran into an interesting issue with this today. I have not used it much before. Applied it to a midi track that had been created in Notion and imported to Auria. Tried humanize with the selection knob turned to about the 2 o'clock position. Couple of spots where I had a couple of long sustained notes, (1 or 2 bars,) followed immediately by the same note played as a quarter or sixteenth, the short note disappeared when the track had humanize applied. Anyone else tried this/run into it?

This happens because MIDI notes can't overlap. When the humanize function tries to move the longer note to the right, it runs into the shorter note, deleting it. I'll add some code to make sure humanize looks for overlaps ahead of time to prevent this.

That would be super SUPER awesome rim!!!

Actually, It would be nice to implement that same look out for overlaps in other places like quantisizing or when we edit couple notes length preventing some of them to overlap deleting the next note ;-)

Cheers!
