Lyra samples

Post by Fitz » Wed Jan 06, 2016 3:27 pm

I'm searching for good samples for Lyra, any suggestions?

I came across this and wondered if anyone had any experience of these? 690 seems a lot, but obviously it depends on the quality. Also, given you can choose which format, are there any pros and cons for sf2, sfz or exs24?

Thanks

use a desktop or laptop, and click on the link along the top to get a drop down, no safari iOS. at the bottom of the page of the chosen instrument will give you a zip.

as far as sfz vs exs. I'd go for sfz personally, exs is a propriatary format, although sfz has its draw backs, level of implementation being the main one I can think of, but can be used in a wide array of programs and samplers.

I think Lyra supports level 1 to an extent but myself would like to know more on Lyra's implementation and future plans, i'd hate to recreate them agian.

Most of my exs have imported fine in Lyra, as well as my sfz.

2 cents

Thanks, will try on the desktop later. I did download those DSK samples and chose EXS24, thinking I could also have access to the wavs, and also check out how many there were per instrument. They're ok, nothing special but nice to have a selection. I'm curious if a lot of songwriting could be done with Lyra, but that would rely on very good instruments, and lots of them I guess.

How do you add sounds to Lyra?

There are two ways to get your SFZ, EXS or SF2 samples into Lyra:

#1 (using a computer):

Use iFunBox (www.i-funbox.com) to copy your samples into the 'Sampler Instruments' folder. Make sure they go into a subfolder of Sampler Instruments, for example:

Auria >
Documents >
Sampler Instruments >
Bass (folder) >
My Bass.sfz
My Bass samples (folder)

Make sure you copy both your SFZ/EXS file and your samples folder to this location.

#2 (using the AudioShare app on your iPad):

1. Copy your SFZ and the associated samples folder to AudioShare

2. In AudioShare, create a new folder. Call is Sampler Instruments

3. Go inside the Sampler Instruments folder and create another new folder called Bass (or some other category name)

4. Go back to the main list of files. Find your SFZ file, and tap on it for a few seconds until you see the menu. Select Move, and move it into your new "Bass" folder

5. Do the same thing to the SFZ samples folder (move it to the Bass folder).

6. Now long tap on the Sampler Instruments folder and choose Make Zip File

7. Then it's finished, tap on the new zip file (cancel the dialog that comes up asking if you want to open it). Then tap on the Send icon (the icon on the right with the box and arrow pointing out). Choose Auria.

Thank you my dude I appreciate that a lot!

Q: what if when I download samples it's a .zip file with folders containing.wav files, how do I add them? Same method?
