Getting the iPad Pro today

Post by Steve White » Sat Nov 14, 2015 8:28 am

Yep getting the 128 Gig IPad Pro. My question is will I be able to use Auria on both my Air 2 and Pro without buying another copy?

Thanks

Steve

Yes, that's not a problem as long as you sign in using the same Apple ID.

Hi there

Ok, a little problem I'm sure can be fixed. I loaded up the new Pro last night but Auria won't open. I get the splash screen then it closes. I shut the Pro totally down and tried again but I still have the same problem?

I suggest deleting Auria completely, then installing again. We've seen no issues running Auria on the iPad pro here.

Make sure to back up any projects/presets, etc you need before deleting.

Ok
I deleted Auria from the Pro but I lost all my songs that are on the Air 2. I know this isn't an Auria problem but could use some advice. Originally I had the Air 2 named iPad and then named the Pro iPad Pro. When I tried to restore the iPad Pro backup it doesn't show any info form the Air 2. So I renamed the Pro the same as the Air 2, to iPad. When I do that and restore I get the same problem of not being able to open Auria in the Pro.

I am pretty confused at this point. :)

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Steve

Sounds like some kind of iCloud restore issue related to two iPads. Not sure why that would be happening, but I suggest not using iCloud in your case. Just connect your Air2 to a computer, copy all the projects to your hard drive using iFunBox or something similar. Then install a fresh copy of Auria onto the iPad Pro (from the App Store). And finally copy your projects back onto your iPad Pro from your computer.

Ok

I think I got everything but will have to test them out later. I got the songs copied to my desktop using iFunBox but when I tried to load them to Auria it wouldn't work. I ended up loading them by using iTunes.

Let ya know the final as soon as I try them out. Probably not till tonight.

Thank you

Steve

Congratulations, Anthony :D Please let us know your impressions and, in time, a performance comparison with your iPad Air, in respect to Auria, et al. I'm still sitting, unsteadily, on the fence. I desperately need an upgrade, from my snail-like iPad3 but I'm wary of v1 anything

@Rim: Have you and the other guys at WML had a chance to evaluate your iPad Pro yet. Is it the dog's doodahs, as we say in the UK (actually, that's the polite version )?

Yes, we've been playing around with the iPad Pro for a while now, and I'm really impressed. I've found no issues at all running Auria, and the larger screen size really improves the editing experience, since you can make edits on smaller track sizes and regions that would have been tricky on a regular iPad. To me, using Auria on the iPad Pro feels much more like a desktop DAW than it ever did.

In terms of CPU power, I've measured about a 1.6x increase over the Air 2, but this depends on the project, types of plugins, etc. The RAM is also doubled on the pro to 4GB, which is really nice when running multiple apps or IAAs.

...and running Auria Pro on the iPad Pro is truly amazing. ;)

Thanks for that, @Rim. This fence-sitting is really uncomfortable, you know  I think I deserve an early Christmas present, don't you?
