IAA Problen

Post by djjuniorpops » Tue Nov 18, 2014 11:35 am

I have noticed when using IAA to record a instrument in Auria when you start recording the track there is a noticeable humming noise when recording. The noise is so much that you can't even hear the input monitor.
If you stop the recording and play it back it seems fine.
Anyone else has this issue.

No buzzing here. iOS 8.1.1, Air 1, current Auria and SampleTank, IAA.
Is it just Auria and ST? Can you try ST into AudioShare via iaa?

Are you using a 44100 sample rate in Auria? Might be that some other apps don't like other sample rates?

Can someone record a bit of this "hum" and post it?

Thanks,

Strangely the hum doesn't record. It occurs during the recording process. The hum grows steadily louder until it is impossible to hear anything else. It sounds like a feedback loop.

Interesting. I don't hear anything over here. Does it only happen with certain IAAs? Maybe it could be recorded using another iPad?

perhaps the mic is live during the recording.

I noticed that final touch by positive grid suddenly had the mic live after upgrading to 8.1.1. Makes it completely unusable.

Continues with sugar bytes Egoist. I am using an apogee duet. Egoist works fine as an IAA app until record is engaged. There is an immediate harsh noise which grows louder suggesting feedback. This also happens with isymphonic.

Started a new project and got the IAA apps to work. I had tried this before and failed. I can think of no reason why it worked this time but am delighted.

Raising this thread from the dead. ;)

I upgraded to iOS8, and while testing I experienced the same problem mentioned above: while attempting to record in IAA, regardless of instrument, I encountered the whine-like feedback sound. The recorded data was fine, free of the offending sound.

Starting a new project, the problem disapeared. Going back to the original project, the whine returned, even after rebooting the device.

Thinking back to my analog mixing days, I figured the whine, since it wasn't actually being recorded, must have something to do with the monitoring chain. So I went into the input matrix (an area of Auria I've never spent much time in), and clicked on 'reset', and the problem went away. Not sure what this fixed, but it might give a clue to what's going on.

Other than that Auria seems to be working great in iOS on my iPad Air.
