Syncing/recording Alchemy in Auria as IAA

Post by sodium » Sun Feb 09, 2014 11:27 pm

HI, sorry for seemingly dopey question ( but I did search the forums several times but couldn't spot the "how to" on this topic, so apols if its been done to death)

I can see Alchemy appear in my drop down list of IAA in Auria. I have written an 8 bar part in Alchemy and would like to be able to record each of Alchemy's four tracks separately in Auria. I envisaged doing this by muting three of the tracks and recording the fourth. I could do this several times and by having the machines lock perfectly I could easily build complex track by overdubbing Alchemy many times.

I would like to arm a track in Auria and push play in Alchemy thereby starting Auria recording. I have checked both apps' midi config pages and am just confused as how to the correctly configure Auria, for example, to achieve my goal.

So the question breaks down to:
1. Does Auria use MMC or MTC to achieve this?
2. Is it better to Auria as master and Alchemy as slave?
3. Anything else I shoud be looking at?

Thanks in advance for any help and apols again if this knowledge is in the manual. (I have taken my copy to the printers and am waiting for an A4 hard copy to be printed and bound so it'll be a few days before I can properly scrutinise the documentation)

Cheers,
na

I just trim the wav files after recording. Only takes a couple of seconds.
I dont think you can sync them, but i hope im wrong!

Ditto, I just record freely then line up the start afterwards.

There might be some form of sync that's working with alchemy, but honestly midi sync on iOS is still convoluted and time consuming, I generally just ignore it for now.

I set the Alchemy track to 16 bars and use Audio Copy/Paste to get it in Auria. Setting it to 16 bars will give you any tail reverb, delay or release. From there, repeat the audio in Auria through multiple pastes. If you use the 'snap to bar' feature, you can easily line up all of the audio you paste.

@kloon

Too right mate.as it happens I was a supporter of the Outliers project so was thrilled to get the skinny on the Iceland offer. Also ( at riskoif sounding like a name dropper) am a chum of biomechanoid @ Camel and was recently commissioned to photograph Sigur Ros, so just love that whole side of things.

Cheers
