Apparently yes the iPad is locked into channels 1/2. But from what I am reading on apple.com the iPad is capable of 5.1 sound when hooked up to hdmi. Some say it can even do the 7.1. I tried this out at a solo gig and it worked great.

It works with the one i bought on ebay. I do not have a separate powered usb hub that would work with the apple cck but i am sure it would work with it. I did try a direct connection to the cck with no luck.

Good idea. Cool thing is my usb hub can power it. But I'll probably want to bring the power cord for the hub. Doubt the ipad has enough power to keep everything going.

The presonus headphone jack get audio from channels 7/8. The iPad only send audio to 1/2. When you use the presonus software with the 1818 and the computer you can send channels 1/2 to channels 7/8.
