Re: Mastering

I guess just adding the stack of filters/compressors on the master bus is the same as using a subgroup. Interesting experiment. Going to take some more practice. But I like the stuff I picked up today for filters, it added a lot of presence to the mix.

Output Meters

In the seminar on mastering I did, he was using Logic. He had meters set up as a plug in that showed the peak DB, and the average DB. He also had a nice graphic plug in that showed the average amplitude by hz, which gave you an idea of where there were peaks and where things were rolled off. Gave an...

Mastering

Went to a seminar on mixing, then another on mastering. Not that I'm going to become an expert, but it was interesting getting the explanation on the differences. Given the process that they explained, they get the initial mix completed down to a stereo track, then take that track and reload into a ...

Re: So long, Alchemy. We barely knew ya.

It's painful, guys, but that's software. Happens to software on Windows and Macs also. Once you stop updating something, or actively supporting it, sooner or later it dies. Fortunately I didn't spend a bunch of money on it, I'd be upset too. But something has happened. They are losing money, I assum...

Re: Major Auria Announcement

Excellent, Rim. I don't know much about all this, just starting to play with midi, this looks like the ticket. Looks like we all have the same questions. I have the full version of Auria. What's the upgrade from the full version, and the basic version. Will my plugins transfer. What kind of hardware...

Re: Copy / Paste Selection

Thanks, guys, will try that. I was using the locators, but I must not have set them correctly.

Re: Latency problems and more

I use Amplitube through Audiobus into Auria. While I have not done a lot with it, what I have done has worked very well. I think there is a free version you can try.

It doesn't seem to be the favourite of folks who play a lot of electric guitar, but it works for me.

Copy / Paste Selection

I have a small quiet spot, where I didn't line an overdub up quite right. I can redo the overdub, but I think I'm supposed to be able to select a piece of audio, copy it, and paste it where I want. I set the locators, and click Copy, but when I click paste, it seems I have copied the entire region. ...

Re: 2014 App of The Year **Auria**

Have to agree with all the above. It's so damned easy to record in this app, and make it sound good. I am just picking up midi now, got a midi keyboard, and I'm using thumbjam for samples, and it's amazing. What a hoot. Looking forward to more great things as the year goes by. Be picking up a new iP...

Re: Recording over existing track

I'm more of the, "can I please get rid of these damned things if I'm not using them, as they eat space." If I decide to do another take because I messed up the first, I delete the previous wav file. If I do something I like, and I want to keep it to compare with later recordings, I do it t...

Re: Normalizing

I was definitely compressing at the same time, and that did make a difference, but still tough to get much volume. My tracks seem to tend to be on the quiet side most of the time. This particular time, its tough to hear the backing track over the live acoustic guitar. iPad is not the loudest device, ...

I'll check that, it's quite possible. I have done that. I'll also try messing with just the compressor. Thanks guys.
